Since leaving the Royal Family and moving to the US in 2020, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle have only travelled back to the UK a handful of times. Of those few occasions, they have only brought their two children, Archie and Lilibet once.

Indeed, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelled as a family to the UK back in June 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebration but only stayed for a few days. This means that King Charles doesn’t get to bond with his grandchildren the same way he does with Prince William and Princess Kate’s children.

Now that the new year is finally here, will be seeing Prince Harry and his family of four in the UK this year?

Prince Harry declined a wedding invitation

Prince Harry was reportedly invited to the Duke of Westminster’s wedding which will be happening in 2024. According to The Independent, Prince Harry refused the invitation, stating it would be ‘too awkward’ if he attended alongside Meghan, claims a source close to the Prince.

Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, is close with several members of the Royal Family, indeed he is godfather to both Prince Harry and Prince William’s eldest children, Archie and George.

Moreover, King Charles is Hugh’s godfather, which means that the King and Queen, as well as Prince William and Princess Kate, are expected to attend Grosvenor’s wedding. Prince Harry reportedly declined the wedding invite to avoid seeing his family.

A source told Page Six that Prince Harry had already refused the invitation before the scandal surrounding Omid Scobie’s latest book, Endgame, started:

Harry actually got a ‘save the date’ card a few months ago but called Hugh and said it would be too awkward if he and Meghan attended, so he made his apologies and Hugh understood.

Will Prince Harry and Meghan travel to the UK with Archie and Lilibet?

With the news that Prince Harry and Meghan won’t be attending Archie’s godfather’s wedding, it leaves the question of will the couple bring their children to the UK anytime soon to see their family.

According to royal commentator Michael Cole, the Sussexes won’t be returning to the UK for a long time, despite King Charles being upset he can’t see his grandchildren, as reported by Express.

Michael Cole told GB News:

I think the King feels hurt by the fact that he does not see his grandchildren in California. It would be quite natural for any man to wish to see his grandchildren.

Adding:

It will be a long time before Prince Harry returns to the country with his children.
