Prince Harry claims King Charles won't speak to him over security issues reconciliation interview

For the past few years, Prince Harry has been involved in lengthy and costly legal proceedings, about the level of security he and his immediate family should get when they visit the UK. After a long battle, which ended with his final appeal, the London High Court ruled against his demands. Prince Harry, who is known for his mistrust of the British press, agreed to speak to BBC News after the ruling, explaining what it meant.

Prince Harry claims his father 'won't speak to him'

During his emotional interview with BBC News, Prince Harry explained he felt 'devastated' by the court's ruling, as it means he will not be able to safely bring his wife and children to his home country. He said:

I can't see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point.

The Duke of Sussex also described the importance of his security issues in the long-going rift between him and his father, King Charles. Indeed, the topic has 'always been the sticking point'. So, does this mean the latest ruling could open the door to reconciliation, now that it is out of the way? The Duke of Sussex is not so sure. He told BBC News that King Charles is the one who refuses to talk to his son. He said:

I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore, as I said life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has. He won't speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile.

A source explains King Charles has got no choice

According to GB News, Palace sources have reacted to Prince Harry's statement, saying he has 'done nothing to help build bridges', and that his words have left King Charles feeling heartbroken. The source reportedly said the comment about not knowing how much longer his father has left was of 'poor taste'. They told the Telegraph:

If there were anxieties about things remaining private, then Friday will not have done them the power of good.

Prince Harry has already stated that he felt saddened his father did not support him in his endeavours to keep his family safe by allowing him and his wife a police escort. He told BBC News:

I never asked him to intervene - I asked him to step out of the way and let the experts do their jobs.

However, according to Buckingham Palace, the King was not allowed to insert himself into the court's ruling. A friend of King Charles told the Times he cannot speak to his son because of a 'fundamental breakdown of trust' between the two men:

It's not that the King won't speak to him - it's that he can't. How can you have a private and delicate conversation when you know it is going to end up on a news special within hours?
