Meghan Markle 'worries' Archie and Lilibet 'will blame her' for isolation from Royal Family

Meghan Markle made her choice a long time ago between the fickle weather of the UK and the sunshine of California. Although they had announced that they would be moving to Canada after leaving the British royal family as senior and working members, Prince Harry and his wife chose to finally settle in a huge love nest in the Montecito district of Los Angeles.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new life

Back in the land of her birth, the 42-year-old ex-actress seems to be living again at last. In fact, she wasted no time in getting back in front of the cameras, when she gave an exclusive interview to her now friend Oprah Winfrey. In her interview with the goddess of American television, she recounted her (mostly) negative experience when she joined the world's most famous monarchy. Deeply impacted by what were, at best, dark thoughts, and at worst, suicidal tendencies, the Duchess of Sussex reportedly received no help from those close to Queen Elizabeth II, even after explicitly asking for it.

No longer tolerating the attacks and indifference from the Windsors, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced their intention to leave the Firm on social media. Although they said they wanted to continue working for the Crown in their own way and from another country, Queen Elizabeth II and her entourage decided otherwise. Ever since, the Sussexes and other members of the Royal Family, seem to have held a nagging grudge against each other.

In his book, King Charles III's youngest son didn't hesitate to paint an unflattering portrait of those who used to be closest to him. In Spare he was less than complimentary about Queen Camilla and what he wrote about Prince William remains shocking to this day. Indeed, in the book, Prince Harry alleged that he and his brother fought and he describes him as hot-tempered Prince William.

Archie and Lilibet denied links with the Royal Family

Contrary to her husband, Meghan Markle has mostly remained silent and she seems to prefer to keep well away. According to biographer Omid Scobie, the Duchess of Sussex has no intention of ever setting foot in the UK again. The proof is that she has not accompanied her husband to his native country since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

Her presence has still not been confirmed at the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, to be held in London on 8 May 2024. Worse still, she is believed to have turned down an offer from Kate Middleton and Prince William to visit Sussex with the children. A choice she is already regretting, according to a royal expert.

Tom Quinn told the Mirror:

A friend of the couple – one of Meghan’s few aristocratic friends from her time in the UK - told me Meghan does miss some aspects of life in the UK and worries that her children will blame her if they never get to see their cousins and feel as adults that they have been deprived of what might have been a fun and meaningful existence in the UK as working royals.

Prince Harry's role to play

For his part, Prince Harry is trying to protect his offspring in other ways. While we saw the faces of Archie and Lilibet in their Netflix mini-series, back when it came out in December 2022, Prince William's little brother is believed to have no desire to repeat the experience in the couple's new projects.

The Sussexes who are working on two new programmes for the streaming giant – one on the world of polo, the other on cooking and lifestyle. After a family photo shoot commissioned by Meghan Markle earlier in 2024, some people thought that the little Sussexes would appear on screen with their parents for some touching new footage.

In the end, The Sun revealed on Sunday 21 March that they understood that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will remain behind the scenes, at their father's request. An insider told the tabloid:
