McDonald’s has started the new year with a bang, making fresh announcements about forthcoming changes, some of which will be introduced from this week itself.

As reported by The Sun, here are all the new changes McDonald’s is making.
McDonald’s new menu item
From, January 4, McDonald’s fans can enjoy the new Double McPlant burger in all of their restaurants. This is a vegan burger and has been described by the company as ‘undeniably delicious.’
The report described the new burger as ‘tasting like a quarter pounder with cheese.’ The McPlant is priced at £4.89 for the burger and £6.49 as part of a meal but prices can vary across locations.
Convenience of the Future campaign
As part of McDonald’s Convenience of the Future campaign, the company has allocated £250 million to evolve and diversify the McDonald’s franchises.
As part of this investment, the company will be adding space for couriers to its car-parks as well as modify traffic routes for better ease of customers in the drive-thru lane.
Redesigned counters
McDonald’s is also set to redesign the ordering counters of its restaurants in order to make it easier for customers to use. The company also aims to redo the kitchen space as well as space for employees to have better working conditions in McDonald's restaurants.
These infrastructural and operational changes will be visible to customers gradually, and when and how these are rolled out depends on respective franchise locations.
Switching from plastic to paper cutlery
In a bid to reduce waste, McDonald’s will also be hitting the pedal on implementing its objective of doing away with plastic cutlery soon as possible in all its restaurants. Instead of the regular plastic cutlery, the fast-food chain has introduced recyclable pressed-paper knives, forks and spoons as eco-friendly substitutes.
