Eamonn Holmes reveals he 'can't walk': What health conditions does the GB presenter suffer from?

Eamonn Holmes has been a presenter for GB News since 2021, after he and his wife, Ruth Langsford were axed from ITV’s This Morning. During the scandal with Phillip Schofield and his affair with a much younger male colleague, Eamonn was very vocal about his thoughts on the matter.

However, on September 4 GB News presenter has revealed a very worrying health update. Holmes shared a statement explaining that he’s ‘not good’ at the moment. The 63-year-old has experienced various health issues in his life and has opened up about his most recent struggles, which have been ongoing since 2021, as he was seen at Wembley Stadium on September 3, in a wheelchair.

Eamonn Holmes has been having back issues since 2021

Eamonn Holmes previously revealed that he has been experiencing back pain since 2021 when it started randomly. Due to his pain, Holmes started using a walking stick to ease the pain.

It turned out that Holmes’ pain was due to three slipped discs which affected his movement in his right leg, hence the need for a walking stick. In December 2021, he told The Sun that he is struggling and it has had a huge impact on his family as he is unable to do everyday tasks:

It's been a difficult year. For months now I haven’t been able to walk, sometimes at all, and it has really taken its toll on everyone around me too...
I can’t bend down to pick things up so Ruth ends up having to wait on me, and I know my sons particularly are a bit embarrassed by the way I move around.

Eamonn Holmes’ surgery went well…but there were side effects

In May of 2022, Eamonn Holmes was scheduled for emergency surgery in Belfast after his back issues caused him to have bladder and bowel issues. However, as reported by Daily Mail, the surgery was cancelled last minute after the surgeon deemed the situation ‘too complicated’.

Holmes stayed in hospital for 9 days and was monitored closely and was then allowed to fly back to England, where he had a jam-packed schedule, including the live coverage of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September.

Eamonn then decided to contact a specialist surgeon and finally underwent the surgery needed to help his back pain in September 2022.

It went well — the doctor tidied things up, and generally the pain has gone, which is brilliant

However, despite the surgery going well, the GB News host was left with a very weakened left leg. Just two weeks after his surgery, Eamonn fell backwards down 18 stairs at his home and hit the stone floor at the bottom, as reported by Daily Mail.

As a result of his fall, Eamonn broke his shoulder and both of his legs were further weakened.

Eamonn Holmes opens up about his recovery

In a conversation with Tim Franklin earlier this month, Eamonn Holmes revealed that he has been struggling to recover from the spinal surgery he underwent in September 2022 then suffering a horrific fall, as reported by Daily Mail.

He said:

I can't run, I can't walk, I can't do anything except watch TV and eat
I just got problems last year in my back, which I haven't recovered from. It's not good, it's not a good recipe I have to say.

On September 19, Eamonn shared an update on his recovery in a new interview and said that he is trying his best to get his health back on track. He told Best Magazine:

Well, I can walk if that’s what you mean (50 steps, to be exact) but I now accept life is easier with help from others. Getting around with crutches is exhausting. I wish I could walk further but, for now, I can’t.'

He said that asking for help form other people has not been easy as he feels helpless, but also 'grateful'. He added:

However, it’s truly draining when you have to say, "do you mind? Could you...? Thank you, I’m sorry." The good news is the op last year cured me of my back pain…I lost full mobility. I’m doing everything I can to get better. But it’s slow.
