Huw Edwards named as BBC presenter

In the evening of Thursday 13 July, after the police gave a statement saying that there will be no criminal charges, Huw Edwards was named as the accused presenter by his wife. In her statement, Vicky Flind, asked the public to give their family some time and disclosed that Edwards was in critical condition and has been hospitalised.

Since both the police and Vicky Flind’s statements were released, more people have expressed themselves concerning the case. A lot of questions have also been raised about Huw Edwards’ place at the BBC.

How much did Huw Edwards make working at the BBC?

When The Sun broke its story about a BBC presenter, the channel was scheduled to release the salaries of its top presenters. To no surprise, Huw Edwards was part of the top 3.

According to the BBC, Huw Edwards was paid between ‘£445,000-£449,999’ last year.

This announcement did not come at the best of times, especially now, considering that Edwards is in the middle of an internal investigation about him paying people several thousands of pounds for explicit pictures.

On top of his annual salary, revealed by the BBC, it has been brought to light that Huw Edwards’ net worth averages at around £3million. SKPop also reveals that, allegedly, the BBC gave the news anchor a ‘a £25,000 wage increase.’

Throughout his expansive career, Edwards not only became a figure of the BBC but he also amassed a significant amount of money. Still according to SKPop, Edwards used to make between ‘£550,000 and £599,999.’ This amount was reevaluated in 2018 in order to compensate the gender pay gap happening within the channel. Over the years Edwards also made less money and since 2021, he plateaus at around £465K.

On top of this, we know that Edwards not only hosted the news but he also was the reference during any royal events. He also participated in other BBC shows and business ventures for which we do not know how much he earned.
