Who is Kerry?
Kerry is a 40-year-old NHS manager from Essex who suffers from multiple sclerosis (MS), an illness known for symptoms such as fatigue, vision and balance issues and difficulty with walking. Kerry has always wanted to be on Big Brother but she felt it was unachievable due to her condition, stating:
It just felt a little bit unachievable because for the first three years of my illness I was in a wheelchair. When I saw it was coming back and searching for real people from all walks of life, I thought, this is my year
Kerry looks forward to meeting new people. Speaking about her acute emotional intelligence being an asset, she said:
I’m quite plugged in and I've got quite a bit of emotional intelligence so I think I'll know if someone is having rubbish day and we'll have a chat.
She continued in the introductory interview:
I'm quite inquisitive and nosy. I'm also really, really looking forward to the challenges and the tasks.
Kerry is not new to television as she stated she appeared on Deal or No Deal featuring Noel Edmonds where she won £35,000.
Kerry finds herself in hot water
In episode 7 of the show the topic of politics was brought up during a conversation about money, taxes and wages. Jenkin revealed he had to live off £250 a month because he went between jobs and that was the maximum benefit payment he was eligible for. Seconds later, Kerry began to complain about being in the higher tax bracket. She continued to reveal that she had voted Conservative her entire life - despite working for the NHS - and stated that she believed MPs were not paid enough.
After bragging about her emotional intelligence and ‘being plugged in’, Kerry proceeded to receive immense backlash from fans who were quickly turned off as they questioned her logic and reasoning.
It came as no surprise that Kerry was nominated for eviction alongside Farida on Friday as part of the first public vote and only narrowly escaped the boot. Fans are quick to turn especially when they witness behaviour they deem unacceptable such as complaining about your higher income when someone is opening up about their financial struggles.
