Suella Braverman receives two salaries, here's how much she makes

Suella Braverman is a confusing mix of seemingly contradictory things. The child of a Kenyan father and a Mauritian mother, she is known for her harsh views on immigration and firm support of Brexit. She is a member of the Triratna Buddhist Community, and even took her oath on the book of Buddhist scripture Dhammapada when she became an MP.

In April 2023, she was accused of exploiting a loophole to claim £25,000 for energy bills at her £1.2 million family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire.

Now, she is trending on X for having helpfully reminded us that 'we're not going to save the planet by bankrupting the British people' when talking about the Government’s Net Zero targets. She's also butting heads with Meta over concern encrypted messages on Facebook could enable child abuse.

But how much money does Suella Braverman make?

Suella Braverman's combined salary

Suella became the Tory MP for Fareham in May 2015, after trying unsuccessfully for many other seats, reports LBC. She then became Home Secretary under Liz Truss’ government but was forced to resign after just six weeks when it was revealed she sent an official document from her personal email, which is against the rules.

In a controversial move, Rishi Sunak reinstated her as Home Secretary.

So now, her combined salaries sit her at an annual income of around £159,038. It is normal for MPs who hold dual roles to receive a salary for both positions.
