The sound of wedding bells are constantly portrayed throughout pop culture as symbolising the beginning of every girls ‘happy ever after’ story. However, the behavioural expert, Paul Dolan, has exposed the reality behind life after the metallic ding following a recent study.
While marriage hosts a whole range of benefits for men, women seem to fair much worse despite preconceived notions of the past. In fact, marriage is said to shorten a woman’s lifespan and could negatively affect overall well-being.
The expert revealed, “The healthiest and happiest sub-group are women who never married or had children.”
Moreover, he discovered when conducting the survey that women only claimed to be happier when their spouse stayed with them in the room.
“Married people are happier than other population sub-groups but only when their spouse is in the room when they’re asked how happy they are.”
