Excitement and love are in the air with a pinch of drama as Love Island announces the first five contestants of the series this year. Some made it to the Love Island Instagram from the rumoured list while others are new but they all have one thing in common – all of them are brainy! Here’s who’s making it to the villa next week.

Tanya Manhenga

The 22-year-old beauty was previously rumoured to be one of the potential stars of the show. Love Island officially posted on their Instagram that the Biomedical student will be soon entering the villa. Tanya said:

I’m looking for a boyfriend and I think being in a villa with lots of different people will help me work out who it is I may want.

The Sun confirmed that there are some ways guys can give her the ‘ick.’ She added:

Guys that don’t wear socks in the house. Also, guys in the bathtub with no bubbles, such an ick, no.

Kai Fagan

The 24-year-old Science and PE teacher from Manchester was revealed as the second contestant on the show. The hunk – who is ‘single by choice’ – is looking for ‘the right girl.’ He said:

I feel like I have quite high expectations. I don’t feel I should commit to someone unless I’m absolutely buzzing over them, because it’s not fair on them.
I’m a Jamaican citizen. Because of that, I played rugby 7s for Jamaica. I play semi-professional rugby now for Burnage RFC.
I’ve technically got three different degrees and went to three different unis.

Lana Jenkins

Lana is a Make-up artist from Luton who falls in love quickly. The 25-year-old revealed that she was once an extra in an episode of Benidorm while she lived in Spain. She said:

I fall in love quickly. I tend to know quite soon if I could fall in love with that person and then, as long as everything is going well, I’ll probably tell them I love them in about a week.
In my work as a makeup artist, I’ve worked with lots of celebrities.

Ron Hall

Love Island’s first-ever blind contestant – Ron Hall is the fourth contestant revealed on the show’s Instagram account. The 26-year-old lost sight in his right eye after a footballing accident when he was eight. He’s a finance worker from Essex and believes his partial sightedness is a good conversation starter. He explained:

It’s added to my character, there are so many people that are worse off than me. And if anything, losing something like that makes you realise that.
It’s not hindered me in any shape or form. It’s a good conversation starter I must admit.

Anna-May Robey

The 20-year-old is a Payroll administrator from Swansea and is doing Love Island on the orders of her mum. Anna confirmed:

I want a boyfriend, I want to find someone who makes me laugh. I’ve been single for quite a while, my mother is bugging me, she's like, ‘You need to find a boyfriend.’
I’m just excited to try something new and I think going on Love Island is a good way to meet someone.
