But how about wiping after peeing? While a lot of people having vaginas might already be wiping after using the bathroom, there are people with penises for whom it might all be a new concept. But as reported by Buzzfeed, as per a nursing student on TikTok, even people with penises should be wiping after using the toilet. And he has some very strong reasons to back his statement.

Wiping after peeing

The TikToker, Kenny He is a nursing student at the University of Massachusetts Boston and a certified nurse's aide in Massachusetts. In one of his recently viral videos, he expresses how people who have penises overlook bathroom hygiene, particularly when it comes to what they do NOT do after using the toilet.

He says,

Every single day, it becomes harder and harder for me to have male friends. It's basic f—ing hygiene

Using a diagram, he explains the anatomy of the urethra saying,

As you can see, that is a lot of real estate inside the penis, in the urethra. There's no peristalsis that happens in the urethra, like it happens in your esophagus or your intestines.
There's no muscle that contracts to push the rest of the pee out. So, no matter how clean you think your pee is, there's residue leftover. There's gonna be pee leftover."

So in essence, as per the creator, due to the anatomy of the urethra, it is necessary for penis havers to be wiping after peeing.

Kenny continues explaining that the bulbourethral gland, located near the base of the penis, does help to flush out things such as 'pre-cum,' but it does not do enough to clean pee. He continues,

I think it's safe to assume you don't stimulate your bulbourethral gland every time you go pee. ... But, every time you do take a piss and don't wipe, you're letting all of that urine build up inside of your pants.

Reactions to the video

With the video going viral, acquiring millions of views since it was uploaded, it's safe to assume its message has resonated with people. While some people have realised for the first time in their life that they should be wiping after peeing, others have shared additional information.

One comment complements Kenny saying,

This was such a scientific and wholesome explanation

Another commenter informs that things might be changing. They say,

Preschool teacher here, can confirm, the mums of today are teaching their boys to not only wipe but to sit as well. They are done with urine droplets!

Another commenter requested,

Can you do another about washing your hands? Apparently men don’t do that either
