Can this even be considered food? A McDonald’s worker decides to reveal how a McRib is made.

This video has been viewed more than 8 million times and has generated a variety of responses from fans.

The video shows an employee taking out frozen ribs, snacking them on a hot plate and then directly putting them into a brown sauce. The chunks of meat are just left sitting on the sauce until someone comes to order a McRib, after which the meat is transported from the sauce to the sandwich.

Reactions to the video

Many fans professed disgust at the way in which the McRib is made. A commenter said,

Wow I don’t eat pork but wow that’s NASTY

A second viewer wrote,

THE McRIB Is gross. What’s the matter with people. How can you eat that garbage.

Another Tweeted,

How does McDonald’s get away with selling “food” like this? There is not one item on their menu that humans should consume

There were also other fans who saw nothing wrong with the process.

One used commended McDonald’s hygiene norms saying,

McD's using "blue gloves for raw meat, clear gloves for not-raw-meat" alone is about 150% better than most kitchens, let alone their hot hold machinery being programmed with when the contents have gone out of window

Another said,

What's the big mystery or scandal? It's a meat patty cooked on a flat-top and then dunked in sauce. This is pretty standard stuff
