Chlorophyll supplemented drinks are the latest concoctions exploding on social media for the many benefits on the human body.
In case you haven't heard of the craze surrounding chlorophyll on TikTok, you may want to pay special attention to the multitude of benefits provided by this wellness and beauty supplement.
What is chlorophyll?
Found in algae and plants, chlorophyll is a green pigment that is responsible for the process of photosynthesis—that which allows plants to absorb energy from light in order to perform necessary metabolic functions like respiration and growth. It is also naturally found in many green vegetables, such as: alfalfa, spinach, kale and wheatgrass.
What are the health benefits?
Now for the fun part. Chlorophyl has been shown to help in many areas of the human body. Holland & Barrett Nutritionist, Alex Thompson explains that:
Green food supplements rich in chlorophyll are increasingly being used by customers to support different aspects of health. For example, chlorella (a type of algae that is a rich source of chlorophyll) may help to enhance energy levels, support digestive health and provide antioxidant support.
Research is in its infancy, but it may be that the chlorophyll content of these green foods contributes to their health benefits in some way.
As chlorophyll is packed with antioxidants, it has anti-inflammatory properties especially beneficial for the skin and blood flow. One study published in the Journal of Drugs and Dermatology reported that people with acne, large pores and sun-damaged skin saw an improvement in the quality of their skin after implementing the supplement in their beauty routines over the course of eight weeks.
But that's not all. Perhaps the main reason why it is making the rounds on social media is because chlorophyll is said to not only make you look good, but smell and taste amazingly as well!
In particular, Several TikTokers have shared their experience with the supplement and its effect on the way it alters the taste of their private parts. Many report that their partners have commented on the sweeter taste of their nether regions since incorporating liquid chlorophyll into their diet.
