Meghan Markle could soon become one of the highest-paid influencers despite failed Spotify deal

Following their Spotify drop, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have now been called ‘grifters’ by Bill Simmons. But when one deal dies another and a more lucrative one might emerge.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had a challenging couple of weeks. Between Prince Harry’s trial against the British press, not being invited to Trooping The Colour and losing their $20million deal with Spotify the couple is now facing yet another hassle.

Bill Simmons, a podcaster turned executive at Spotify has called the couple ‘f***ing grifters.’ The comment comes after the couple did not stick to their deal to produce several original podcasts for the company.

But the couple is set to be recovering quickly as rumours are flying around that the Duchess of Sussex will start working with a French luxury brand. She could become the highest-paid influencer, possibly making $200K per post.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry under attack.

It was announced last week that Meghan Markle’s podcast Archetypes was not going to be renewed for a second season at Spotify.

In a joint statement between the two parties, the end of the deal seemed to be amicable.

Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series that we made together.

However, in The Bill Simmons Podcast, the host and Spotify’s ‘Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetisation’ shared his opinion on the end of the collaboration.

He says:

The F***ing Grifters.’ That’s the podcast we shoulda launched with them

While the language used is not the most appropriate, he is highlighting the fact that the couple did not stick to what they had said they would do. Indeed, they were paid a lot of money, shall we say it again, $20million, to produce original podcasts over three years. But only Archetypes came out.

James Mariott’s review from The London Time read:

The podcast is a tastefully soundtracked parade of banalities, absurdities and self-aggrandising Californian platitudes. The effect of all the tinkly music and vapid conversation is to make you feel you've been locked in the relaxation room of a wellness spa with an unusually self-involved yoga instructor.

But Bill Simmons doesn’t stop at his one comment. The podcaster continues:

I gotta get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.

While this is not the first time Simmons goes after Prince Harry, as this tweet shows:

The new comments bring something else to light: the lack of ideas the couple had. Simmons also asked a very simple question :

What does he (Prince Harry) bring to the table?

Meghan Markle’s new record-setting deal reportedly in the works

Losing a $20million deal would be a huge set-back for most people but apparently not for Meghan Markle.

Indeed, rumours are circulating about the Duchess working with luxury fashion brand Dior.

According to the Daily Mail,Meghan Markle is now working with a new agent Ari Emanuel.

An unnamed source adds that Meghan and her agent knew that the Spotify deal was on the brink of ending and that they had ‘been working on the rebranding of Meghan for weeks.’

The rumour about partnering with Dior makes a lot of sense considering that Meghan has worn the brand a lot in recent years.

Moreover, her new agent is known to be ‘the best in the business when it comes to corporate deals and making money.’

If he is as good as people say, the rumours about Meghan making 200K per post with Dior might turn out to be true.

Brand expert, Nick Ede has also pointed out that:

She is already one of the most talked about and photographed people so maximising her profit and aligning herself with these brands is a very lucrative step
