She first rose to fame in 2004 when she claimed to have been David Beckham’s mistress while working for him. She shared details about their relationship to Sky stating that she had bedded the football star at least four times. She alleged that the affair began at a group dinner out: ‘That night we just really hit it off. It was the first time, we were just locked into each other all night conversation-wise. We just connected. People noticed it. She added on what Beckham told her that night:
Why don't we just lose the rest and go back [to the hotel] together? A bit later on it dawned on me what he had asked me, and I did want to go back with him.
In 2021, as part of the BBC documentary 21st Century Celebrity, she recalled how she first opened up about her story:
I just felt the need to be truthful. Whether you’ve done something right or wrong, it was kind of just eating me up. I was living a lie and keeping secrets. Max Clifford [a former celebrity agent] said to me he’d negotiate an exclusive with the newspaper and that if I was willing to tell absolutely all the juicy details, then I would get up to five or six hundred thousand pounds. Ridiculous money.
According to The Mirror, Loos made up to £1 million from the scandal through publicity deals and reality show appearances.
A complete lifestyle change
After nearly 20 years Rebecca Loos has made vast changes to her lifestyle as she now lives in Norway with her husband Sven Christjar Skaiaa whom she met on the set of 71 Degrees North in 2008. The couple’s home in Hemsedal is remote and deep within the mountains. She now spends her days hiking, riding bikes, taking care of the home and packing lunches for her two boys Magnus and Liam. She stated that people had doubts about her relationship, however:
Look at everything I have now, I am so happy. I have no regrets, I am so happy with my life now. But many people are so afraid of change. Change is good, change is how you learn, people should just f**king go for it.
Loos is now a Yoga teacher who enjoys time outdoors and lives a life far away from the spotlight.
The Beckhams break their silence
While they have denied the affair ever happened for 20 years, Victoria and David finally addressed the rumors plaguing their relationships part of the four part Netflix documentary Beckham. In the series finale Victoria stated:
It was the hardest period because it felt like the world was against us. You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else but we were together, we were connected, we had each other.
She continued:
But when we were in Spain, it didn’t really feel like we had each other either. And that’s sad. I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me. It was a nightmare.
