Walsh’s career started in the 1990s when he was recruited by ITV. In 1997, he became the host of The Wheel of Fortune for one year as he decided to quit and turn to acting. As an actor, Walsh has been in shows such as Coronation Street and Doctor Who. Since 2009, Walsh has been the host of the highly popular show The Chase. In 2023, it was announced that he and his son, Barney, were going to host a show together.

While he is now worth millions of pounds, Bradley Walsh didn’t come from wealth. Here’s a look at where the TV Host comes from and what his private life looks like.

Bradley Walsh, from 'council house' to millionaire

In an interview with The Telegraph in 2012, Walsh opens up about his childhood. He says:

I'm from a working-class background. I was born in Watford, and grew up in a council house.

The TV host who married dancer Donna Derby in 1997 did not always live in what is called a ‘luxury home’ by The Mirror. Moreover, while he, his wife and their son live in a ‘£2.5million barn conversion’ the TV host didn’t not grow up in that environment at all.

In The Telegraph he shares:

My mother was a single parent, who had to struggle hard to make ends meet. At one point she was holding down three different jobs.

His upbringing clearly has had an impact on his work ethic. Walsh didn’t become the richest TV host by luck. He has worked on several shows at once and tried different fields. He has also earned his £18million by becoming an icon of British TV with millions of fans.

Twiter users say:

But I like that bradley Walsh is very funny
I do wish they hadn’t put that scene in if they weren’t going to at least get her to empathise it does seem a bit clunky, but Bradley Walsh knocks it out of the park with his performance.

Bradley Walsh suffers from unknown illness

In 2017, while being interview on This Morning, Bradley Walsh shared an intimate detail about his health.

He said:

People don’t realise I have seriously bad blepharitis.
I have to take [one pill] a day for it or I really struggle. I am going to need my eyes operated on at some point to sort it out.

Blepharitis is described by the NHS as a condition that ‘causes swollen and itchy eyelids.’

The NHS specifies that the condition is ‘not usually serious’ but that it can cause the eyelids to be stuck together in the morning.

Having blepharitis doesn’t prevent Badley Walsh from being fully committed to his work. He once said:

If I’m doing a job I’ll give it 100% and that job gets my absolute focus and everything else goes to the side
