Helping 40,000 people

According to The Independent, Iceland’s vouchers could help around 40,000 people. The frozen-food giant has partnered with the Rothesay Foundation on the ‘Summer Cheer’ campaign, which will run in 269 stores across 17 areas nationwide.

Richard Walker, managing director of Iceland Foods, said:

Since the launch of the partnership last Christmas, the cost-of-living crisis has taken hold of the UK, and now more than ever, people are struggling to access the food they need.

Who’s eligible?

Iceland has decided to offer their £30 gift vouchers to pensioners in poverty. Indeed, The Independent reports that roughly 1.7 million pensioners are living in poverty in the UK.

The areas that have qualified are places with the highest number of pensioners living in poverty, such as Glasgow, Strathclyde, Manchester, Birmingham, Sheffield, Liverpool, Newport, Lambeth and Croydon.

Richard Walker said:

No one should ever have to worry about how they are going to eat or drink, and we hope that the support we can offer across the UK will help pensioners access and enjoy a worry-free meal during this difficult time.

To claim the £30 voucher, eligible pensioners should call the Summer Cheer hotline on 0800 098 7877 from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
