Asda and Morrisons recall cheese product due to potential listeria presence

Popular supermarkets Asda and Morrisons have been forced to issue a recall for one of their cheese products as they may contain listeria.

It isn’t uncommon for supermarkets to recall certain products after selling them as they discover they may contain ingredients that haven’t been declared or may be contaminated by something, such as E.coli or listeria.

Asda and Morrisons have been forced to recall one of their cheese products as it has been discovered they may contain listeria. Moreover, a popular ice cream brand has also been recalled as it may contain pieces of metal. Here’s everything you need to know.

Morrisons recalling The Best Taleggio

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Morrisonsrecalled its The Best Taleggio on April 4, 2024, as Listeria monocytogenes have been found in the cheese. Symptoms of listeria are similar to that of the flu, which includes high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. Product details are the following:

  • Use-by date: All date codes up to and including 28 April 2024

Morrisons has urged all customers who have bought The Best Taleggio to not eat it and to return the product to their local store for a full refund. Morrisons have also put up notices in all stores that sell the product as a warning to not buy the cheese due to the presence of listeria.

Asda recalling Extra Special Taleggio

Asda are also recalling a cheese, this time it is Extra Special Taleggio for the same reasons as Listeria monocytogenes has been found in some of the products. Product details are the following:

  • Use-by date: 14 April 2024

Asda are urging all its customers to not eat the cheese and return it to their local store as soon as possible for a full refund. Asda have also put up notices in all stores that sell the product as a warning to not buy the cheese due to the presence of listeria.

Unilever recalling Magnum Classic ice cream

Unilever is recalling the very popular ice cream Magnum Classic Ice Cream Sticks as it has been discovered the dessert may contain pieces of metal, therefore making them unsafe to eat. Product details are the following:

  • Pack size: 3 x 100 ml
  • Batch code: L3324, L3325, L3326, L3327, L3328
  • Best-before date: November 2025

As a result, Unilever is recalling all the above ice creams and urging consumers to not eat the dessert and to return it for a full refund. Unilever has also put up a notice on all stores selling Magnum Classic Ice Cream Sticks to not purchase the dessert with the explanation so new consumers do not continue buying the product.
