The role would entail being responsible for ‘the maintenance and presentation of the Buckingham Palace Garden and its surrounding areas to an exceptional standard.’ The advert said:

It's developing others whilst growing your own skills. And it's the pride in leading a team at the heart of a world-famous institution. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

The lavish gardens, which are said to be 40 acres in size, feature a helipad, a lake, and a tennis court that has been used by Björn Borg, John McEnroe, and Steffi Graf. And so, the monarch is looking for someone who is ‘passionate about plants.’ It added:

If you're as passionate about plants as you are about people then this role will inspire you to deliver.

Role and responsibility

The garden manager would be responsible for maintaining a garden of the most famous institution in the UK that ‘thousands will admire.’ The successful candidate not only has to care for the present of the garden but also take significant steps in shaping the future of the garden. The advert reads:

Leading a dedicated and talented team, you’ll use your skills and expertise to deliver all important lawn maintenance and the caring for shrub, herbaceous and rose borders.
With a commitment to horticulture, you’ll be focused on delivering on our projects to conserve and enhance our gardens rich biodiversity.
