It is also believed that King Charles has also snubbed some extended family from his grand day. According to reports, King Charles’ former brother-in-law, Charles Spencer hasn’t been invited to the coronation.

Charles Spencer is Prince William and Prince Harry’s uncle and on the day of Princess Diana’s funeral, he vowed to always look after the two Princes. This decision on King Charles’ part could spark more tension between Royal fans and Princess Diana fans.

Charles Spencer isn’t attending the coronation

According to The Independent, King Charles decided not to invite his sons’ uncle to his coronation on May 6. This could be quite a blow to Charles Spencer, as he vowed to always look after Diana’s boys 25 years ago at her funeral.

A friend said, as reported by The Independent:

What’s galling is that Earl Spencer may well have turned down the invitation for obvious historic reasons, but this brutal exclusion left no option for any elegant diplomacy.

It is also an extra blow as Charles Spencer was close to the Royal Family, and not just because he was Princess Diana’s brother. Indeed Spencer is also the late Queen Elizabeth’s godson.

This decision could be seen as a new power play with Charles and Camilla as King and Queen. What is even more surprising, is that Queen Camilla’s ex-husband, Andrew Parker-Bowles is attending the coronation.

King Charles has also snubbed his extended family

King Charles opted for a smaller coronation than his late mother’s with around 2,000 guests attending. As reported by Daily Mail, King Charles has not invited his late mother’s cousins’ grandchildren to his coronation.

This includes Lady Amelia Windsor, who was called the ‘most beautiful member of the Royal Family' by Tatler magazine as well as King Charles’ godson Lord Nicholas Windsor.

A friend reportedly told Daily Mail:

They can't understand why they haven't been invited when they were invited to every other state occasion.

Zenouska Mowatt, Princess Alexandra’s granddaughter, has also been snubbed from the coronation. She has appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony on several occasions. Mowatt reportedly bares no grudge against King Charles and will be watching the coronation at home:

I'm not going to the Coronation, but I'm really looking forward to watching it [on television].
I'll be with family anyway. My street is doing a street party.
