King Charles’ coronation is mere days away. The guest list is slowly being revealed, with stars such as Ant and Dec being invited. However, it would seem that King Charles has decided to snub a few people.

One of them was Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife. In an interview, she explained that she would be watching the coronation on her TV at home. King Charles has also seemingly snubbed his late mother’s godson, the Earl of Carnarvon.

This decision is quite surprising for a number of reasons, one of them being that he is the godson of the late monarch, but also for historic reasons.

George Herbert is Queen Elizabeth’s godson

George Herbert is the 8th Earl of Carnarvon and is the late Queen Elizabeth’s godson. Herbert revealed that he and his wife, Fiona, Lady Carnarvon, ‘haven’t received anything’ about the coronation.

He explained that he hasn’t received an email, a phone call or anything else saying whether or not he and his wife have been invited to King Charles’ coronation. Lord Carnarvon said, as reported by Daily Mail:

No one’s sent me an email or [made] a phone call saying, “You’re not coming.” We just haven’t received anything

Adding:

You can't always be part of everything

The first time the Earl of Carnarvon isn’t invited to a coronation

Another reason why this snub is surprising is that it will be the first that an Earl of Carnarvon has not been invited to the new monarch’s coronation.

It could be that King Charles snubbed the Earl of Carnarvon and his wife as he scaled down his coronation, even though it is still more expensive than the late Queen’s.

Speaking with Daily Mail, Lady Carnarvon makes a seemingly snide comment about watching the coronation at home, since they haven’t been invited:

We will be watching it. We are not there – new king, new way of doings things.
