They Told Her She Was 'Too Big' To Model... So She Made A Radical Decision

Hunter McGrady was 16 when she decided to start her modelling career. But after being judged as ‘too big’ at just size 6, she made a radical decision and took a stance against those who criticised her.

5ft 10 and weighing just 9 stone, at 16 years of age Hunter McGrady was a size 6 wanting to start a successful career in modelling. With great ambition and great potential at such a young age, she unfortunately was rejected by modelling agencies who claimed she was ‘too big’. Ridiculous, right? At such a young age she saw the door to a long career as a model, be firmly shut in her face.

Until she made this incredibly brave decision…

Since the harsh critiques of some of the modelling agencies, she decided to go from a size 6 to a size 20 waist. She then decided to try her luck at entering the modelling profession again, as a plus size model.

As a plus size model, she managed to get several contracts, advertisements and even ended up posing for American magazine, Sports illustrated. A very bold move from an incredibly strong and inspiring girl.

If there’s one thing to take away from this story it’s that we should learn to love our body no matter what; just because you’re not a size zero, doesn’t mean there are zero opportunities in life. No matter what age, shape or size, we should all learn to love our bodies and be comfortable in our own skin.
