New clothes do many rounds

No one thought that wearing your newly bought clothes could have harmful effects; but indeed it does! Not only does it go through many hands and bodies in the shop, but also through a long process that crosses borders, factories, and people.

Imagine a blouse that is manufactured in a foreign country. There, people sew the fabric, stitch it and iron it; then another person puts it in boxes that will travel for days to the destination country, for example, the UK.

You see, that particular blouse has been handled by many already. Then that clothing item does a couple more rounds in the hands of numerous others!

Disperse dyes

According to Donald Belsito, a dermatology professor at Columbia University Medical Center, wearing unclean store-bought clothingcan cause skin discomfort, such as scabies, lice, or even fungus.

New clothes such as polyester and nylon contain 'disperse dyes.' It is the main reason of the skin reactions. Even though much data is not available on how common it is, it has been proven that washing new clothes before wearing it eliminates the chances of a skin allergy.

This synthetic dye can cause something known as 'allergic contact dermatitis.' An immune system-related reaction, which occurs when an allergen is in touch with your skin.

It is a rash that occurs after wearing the new clothes. That is why it is advised that you wash your clothes before wearing them.
