The 37-year-old, Gosiame Thamara Sithole made headlines recently for allegedly breaking the Guinness World Record for the most children delivered at a single birth. The record was previously held by a Malian woman who gave birth to nine babies.
It was widely reported that Sithole gave birth to seven boys and three girls through a combination of natural and caesarean section methods.
However, speculations are growing about the veracity of Ms. Sithole’s claims with the babies’ supposed father coming out to say he was yet to see the babies.
The media in South Africa is reporting that Sithole has been taken to a psychiatric ward in Johannesburg for further analysis.
A source told local Eyewitness news that there was no medical evidence of a pregnancy.
The medical evaluation has shown that there was no pregnancy. It also shows that there are no physical scars to indicate a recent C-section.
The family of the woman who have not seen the alleged babies have issued a statement disputing the claims made by Sithole. Even her boyfriend—the supposed father of the decuplets—does not know where they are.
He (Tebego) made several attempts to visit his girlfriend, but she has failed to disclose her whereabouts and the condition of her babies. The family has resolved and concluded that there are no decuplets born between Tebogo Tsotetsi and Gosiame Sithole, until proven otherwise and wishes to apologise for any inconvenience and embarrassment.
Prior to the ‘birth’ of the babies, a heavily pregnant Sithole and boyfriend Tebego granted media interviews announcing the impending births. Donations started pouring in to help support the couple raise their 10 children. Tebego has since asked the public to cease the donations as there were no babies.
Doctors are yet to verify the fact that indeed the births occurred; neither are there any official records of that or pictures to prove the existence of the babies.
