Presence of buttermilk

The product was recalled after buttermilk, an ingredient that could spark allergic reactions in those who are lactose intolerant, was left undeclared on the packaging. They’re urging customers who have a dairy allergy to return the product to their nearest Sainsbury store for a full refund. The company wrote on their website:

SFC Wholesale Ltd are recalling their Original SFC Bargain Box 700g due to the presence of Buttermilk which is not declared on the packaging.
We are asking all customers who have an intolerance to Dairy not to consume it and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store where they will receive a full refund. No other products have been affected by this issue.

All batches of the Original SFC Bargain boxes with best before dates up to and including 30/09/2022 have been affected.

Other recalls

There are three other recalls that are ongoing in the supermarket chain, two of which concern undeclared allergens. Their Quorn Vegetarian Turkey and Stuffing 170g is being called back after wheat was left out of the ingredient list, and Sainsbury’s On the Go Spicy Chicken Pasta 275g is also being recalled because of the presence of milk.

They have also issued a recall on their Hypoallergenic Recipe complete dry cat food with Salmon 1+ Years 800g and Hypoallergenic Recipe complete dry cat food with Chicken 1+ Years 800g because of ongoing investigation that is evaluating the 'possible safety issues of the product.’
