Like the rest of the royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also chosen to stay silent about the sex abuse allegations that have been pinned on Prince Andrew by Virginia Giuffre. However, silence may not be enough to keep them away from the scandal.

Beacon of truth

Giuffre’s lawyers have revealed that they’re hoping to call upon royal family members to give a deposition in the lawsuit against Prince Andrew, and they’ve got their eyes particularly set on Meghan Markle.

David Boies, the lawyer who is currently representing Giuffre, says that Markle’s citizenship and presence in the country is not the only reason that she may be summoned. He told Daily Beast that they believe she will tell the whole truth. He said:

She is somebody who we can count on to tell the truth.

As a result, they’re also hoping that she can shed some light on the possible chatter surrounding the sex scandal that was happening within the royal family and other close circles. He added:

(She) was a close associate of Prince Andrew and hence is in a position to perhaps have seen what he did, and perhaps if not to have seen what he did, to have heard people talk about it.
Because of her past association with him, she may very well have important knowledge and will certainly have some knowledge.
She checks all three boxes.

Their stance on the issue

On 4 January, US Judge Kaplan will be hearing Prince Andrew’s motionto have the lawsuit dismissed. If they fail and the case goes into trial, Meghan Markle may have to take the stand against the royal.

While the couple has not yet publicly revealed their true feelings about the situation, last year Russian pranksters disclosed a conversation they allegedly had with Prince Harry while pretending to be Greta Thunberg and her father. According to Business Insider Prince Harry was heard saying:

I have very little to say on that. But whatever he has done or hasn't done, is completely separate from me and my wife.
