Hancock played one of the key roles in the UK Government's management of the Covid-19 pandemic which took the lives of over 200,000 Brits. But his high-flying political career came to a halt after he was caught on camera breaking social distancing rules he was involved in imposing.
Leaked footage showed him kissing his longtime friend and aide Gina Coladangelo and made headlines in the press, ultimately leading to his resignation as Health Secretary.
Both Hancock and Coladangelo were married with children at the time of the affair.

What happened between Matt Hancock and Gina Coladangelo in 2021?
The photographs of then-Health Secretary Matt Hancock kissing his aide Gina Coladangelo in the midst of the deadly pandemic angered the Brits as he wasn’t just cheating on his wife which would be his private matter but he was breaking the very lockdown and social distancing rules he was involved in imposing.

The pair first met whilst they were studying at Oxford University. They became close friends but despite their bond, went on to marry other people.
Hancock tied the knot with osteopath Martha Hoyer Millar in 2006 and Coladangelo married Oliver Tress of fashion brand Oliver Bonas in 2009.
In 2023, Grazia reported what Hancock said to Steve Bartlett about his relationship with Coladangelo:
I’ve known Gina for more than half of my life and we first actually worked together on student radio back in the Oxford days.
Hancock appointed Coladangelo to the Department of Health and Social Care in March 2020 and a few months later, she was promoted to the role of non-executive director.
When their affair came to light, she resigned, as did he.
Both also separated from their partners.
Are Matt Hancock and Gina Coladangelo still together?
Hancock, who is still an MP, and his former aide are still together two years after their affair was exposed.
In fact, they seem to be very much in love.
Hancock once said on The Diary Of A CEO podcast:
We spent a lot of time together, ironically trying to get me to be able to communicate in a more emotionally intelligent way, and we fell in love.
Their romantic bond was confirmed on I'm A Celebrity 2022 when Matt Hancock was seen rushing to be with his girlfriend on the famous bridge during the live final.
The third-place finalist was heard shouting out as he hugged her:
Oh my God, seriously... oh I love you so much.
They were also seen holding hands and smiling at each other during the Cheltenham Festival in March this year.
Hancock and Coladangelo are reportedly yet to finalise their divorces.
It was revealed that following the split with her husband, his wife Martha left the London home they shared together.
Who is Gina Coladangelo?
According to a Grazia article published in November 2023, when Matt Hancock was set to testify in the Covid-19 inquiry, before Coladangelo was known as Hancock's girlfriend, she was 'a marketing and communications director' at Oliver Bonas.
However, though the job is impressive by itself, a more interesting fact is that she was married to the brand's founder, Oliver Tress, until around the time the scandal with Hancock broke out. To this day, it remains unknown whether or not Coladangelo and Tress were separated when the romance was made public.
Her being appointed as a communications expert for the Health Department made waves, especially after Gina and Hancock were seen kissing. Many suggested that she had gotten the job due to her personal connection with Hancock.
Gina Coladangelo has three children with her ex-husband, Talia, Layla and Bruno. She is also step-mother to Matt Hancock's three children, two sons and a daughter.
The children were mentioned by Hancock when he spoke about the impact of their affair. Grazia reported:
Of course, I regret the pain that that’s caused. Doing that in public is incredibly painful but I fell in love with someone.
Anybody knows how difficult it is ending a relationship and we [he and Gina] have six children. It’s tough. But Gina and I love each other very deeply. Seven, eight months later. It gets a bit easier with time.
Though their divorces aren't finalised yet, it was revealed by Daily Mail in October 2023 that Hancock moved to a 'posh enclave of South-West London' on the same street at Gina. However, the two are reportedly not living together.
Coincidently, Hancock's house appears to just be a 'stone’s throw' away from Coladangelo's ex-husband.
