Because of this, he was booked into jail in Atlanta Georgia last night, where he had his mugshot taken. Many celebrities before him had the famous picture taken but not all of them choose to publish it online immediately after being released. Trump on the other hand decided to share the mugshot with his supporters and it now appears on his website alongside a statement where he claims his innocence.

According to a body language expert, the mugshot could have be rehearsed and the reason behind it is … well very Trump-like.

Donald Trump accused of staging his mugshot

Body language expert Judi James spoke to the Mirror and claims that there are signs that the pose was prepared in advance.

She says:

Trump’s mug-shot suggested he might have been working the pose in the mirror before getting in front of the camera.

The expert then continues and explains the reason why Trump could have chosen to do that:

He must know this photo will be an iconic memory and his choice of message appeared to be a warning, baleful stare that would scream defiance and even retribution.

Indeed, in the picture Trump’s brows are furrowed, his face angled slightly down and he is staring straight into the camera. He doesn’t look worried but instead seems to be challenging whoever is looking at the picture. Judi James says that this look is ‘intended to haunt his accusers.’

Donald Trump already banking on this mugshot

As soon as he was released from jail the former President shared the picture on different social media platforms. Of course his website, as mentioned above but also on X (formerly Twitter).

Alongside the picture is Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign website where he asks his supporters for funds. But it appears that Trump has found another way to make money after his mugshot.

According to the New York Post, ‘the Trump campaign is looking to cash in (...) hawking T-shirts and other merchandise featuring his booking photo.’

The publication states that a ‘new line of mug-shot-inspired gear’ appeared on the campaign website shortly after Trump left the Atlanta jail.

We have been able to confirm that and there are indeed several items for sale with the mugshot on.

The products sold include T-shirts and long sleeve shirts priced at $34, a coffee mug sold for $25 and beer Koozies (15$).
