You probably have it installed on your cell phone. It is one of the most downloaded applications on dedicated stores. With billions of users all over the world, WhatsApp allows you to share your geolocation, along with voice notes, videos, photos, and so much more with the click of a button.

But as you are well aware, some contacts are sometimes not welcome in our personal space. They can bring with them scams that steal access to data, unwanted pictures, and much more.

Here is how to get rid of those contacts in under a minute.

It is enough to have a phone number of a person to have access to their profile on WhatsApp and thus know some personal information such as the date of birth, the date of your arrival on the application. In fact, they may even be able to view your stories if you give access to them unknowingly.

In times like these, you should know that it is possible to block someone on WhatsApp.

Here are the steps to follow

If you notice someone spying on you or sending you messages when you don't want them to, block them quickly.

  1. First, open the chat with the person from the application.
  2. Then click on the profile at the top of the page. You will arrive on a page were you have the option to call them, or see the media and messages exchanged. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.
  3. You will then see options in red which allow you to clear the chat, block the user, and also report the user. Click on 'block'.
  4. WhatsApp will then ask you to confirm your decision by pressing the 'Block' button again.

And there you have it, 4 clicks later the contact that has been pestering you will be blocked!

What happens when you block someone on Whatsapp?

WhatsApp's official website states that:

Blocked contacts will no longer be able to call you or send you messages.
Your last seen, online, status updates, and any changes made to your profile photo will no longer be visible to contacts you've blocked.

However, it is important to note that they will not be deleted from your contact list automatically. For that you need to delete them from the contact list on your phone.

What happens when you report a contact

If the contact has been sending you suspicious or inappropriate messages, and you believe they could be a danger to other users, you can also report the user.

According to Cashify, when you report someone the contact will not be able to see your profile or send you messages. They will not be notified that have been reported, but it is likely that they account will get suspended if more people report the same number.
