After a number of food recalls from Morrisons, Asda and Heron Foods earlier this week, Tesco and Aldi have put out food recall alerts due to potential food safety issues. Aldi have been alerted by their suppliers that a product may contain pieces of plastic whilst Tesco’s recall concerns a lack of correct allergy labelling due to a packaging error.

Aldi recalls Crisp Rice

Aldi GB supermarkets have recalled several batches of Harvest Morn Crisp Rice breakfast cereal after their supplier discovered the possible presence of plastic. The affected packs have the batch codes 10470953, 10480953 and 10490953 and all have the Best Before Date of November 2021.

In the official recall notice, Aldi apologised for the inconvenience and asked customers who have bought any of the affected 375g packs not to eat the cereal. Instead, customers are being asked to return them to their nearest store for a full refund. You can contact customer.service@aldi.co.uk for further information.

Tesco recalls Tzatziki

Meanwhile, Tesco has recalled their own-brand Tesco Tzatziki this week due to a packaging error which means some packs labelled as tzatziki actually contain Sour Cream and Chive Dip instead. Unlike the tzatziki, this dip contains egg and therefore presents a potential danger for egg allergy sufferers.

The recall affects 200g packs of Tesco Tzatziki with the Use By Date of 12 April 2021. If you have an allergy to eggs, you should not eat this product. Customers who bought one of the affected packs can return it to their nearest Tesco store for a full refund. You do not need to show your receipt to get the refund.
