This revelation has left fans in shock as they wonder whether there is some sort of gold mine shrouded in secrecy and kept from them, or this is indeed all they receive. Viewers simply cannot comprehend why contestants go through all these efforts only to be rewarded with thismiserable prize.

However, the winners and contestants of the show feel otherwise because they are enjoying great success, and soaring in their career. Some have revealed the enormous prospects and opportunities they have derived from being a part of this iconic show.

Some previous winners

Fans continue to get glued to their TV sets every Tuesday evening to cheer on their favorite bakers even though they are not happy with what they will earn after the show.

The Sun reported that previous contestant, Martha Collison, who reached the quarter finals in the 2014 series, is content with what she has achieved from the show.

Everyone is so surprised and thinks there must be some secret cash, but all we really get is a bunch of flowers and a cake stand.
But then, you also kind of become a national treasure just by doing it because everyone in Britain loves the Bake Off so much,

For instance, the most successful winner of the series so far, Nadiya Hussain, who won the 2015 episode, has become a global sensation with several cook books credited to her name, and has become a superstar in the baking industry. During the late Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday, she was even selected to bake for the monarch.

How have contestants benefited from the show?

There is no doubt that what they have made out of the GBBO show is more than any cash prize. According to Nationalworld, Nadiya Hussain earns the most out of all the GBBOwinners. She has 860K Instagram followers and earns £3,726 per post.

The 37-year-old Sophie Faldo, who was crowned as the best amateur baker in the 2017 series, now owns a luxury bespoke cake shop called Sophie Faldo Couture Cakes. She also has 43,400 Instagram followers, and earns £316 per post.

So, if you are a fan and still think competing on the show is not worth the time and effort, maybe it's about time to rescind that thought.
