The return of creative baking

On September 13, the 13th instalment of The Great British Bake Offstarted airing on Channel 4 at 8 PM with episodes coming out every week. The rules remain pretty much the same: each of the 12 contestants will battle it out (with dough) to impress returning judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with their off-beat creations, according to TellyMix.

All the episodes will be available on All4, the network’s streaming platform, according to Tech Radar.

Who is Dawn, the grandmother?

Dawn is 60 years of age and works as an IT manager from Bedfordshire. On the show, she revealed that she is a former project manager for Boris Johnson, sparking controversy with viewers online.

Dawn is also mother of three grown children, step-mother to another two and grandmother and step-grandmother to four little kids, according to a news report by Radio Times.

Currently, she lives with her partner Trevor and likes to call herself an ‘artist’ both in the kitchen and out of it as well.

As someone who loves outlandish designs and patterns on cake, Dawn’s favourite is taking on the challenge of creating an illusion cake.

She has a steady pair of hands and is proud of her penchant for perfection, especially over tiny little details.

Dawn pays close attention to lace patterns on biscuits and her favorite flavors are lemon, salted caramel and all things nutty!

About being in the tent for the first week, Dawn said that it was great to share her passion for baking with other contestants:

Then getting to know my fellow bakers, everyone was so unique, our shared passion for baking was terrific and we just laughed constantly even though we were petrified! And the grounds are so incredibly beautiful.
