Nigel Farage's House of Lords confession I'm A Celeb

In tonight's episode (December 2), campmates had a bit of drama with the change of regime but they ate a wholesome dinner after Tony Bellew got 9 stars for the camp. Amidst all the cooking madness on the show, Nigel Farage was spotted revealing what it's like being in the House of Lords.

Jockey Frankie Dettori grilled Nigel about his friendship with controversial former president Donald Trump. They spoke about American presidents' power to exercise 'presidential pardon.' Nigel shared that UK Prime Ministers do not hold any such powers to which Fred Sirieix pointed out that they can 'bestow honours' and get a paycheck every year. Nigel replied to this and said:

Well you don't, you get a cheque every day. You get £300 a day for turning up.

Frankie joked that £300 would just cover lunch for anybody in House of Lords and then Nigel went on to explain:

I went to the House of Lords about two months ago, a guy I served with in the late 90s and early 00s in Brussels invited me to lunch. I said, 'What's it like here?' He said, 'It's the best retirement home in the country.'
He said, 'I get a taxi in every morning, I do a little paperwork, sign in for the money, go for lunch in the subsidised dining room' and it's old fashioned English food, it's roast, it's really cheap. They go into the House of Lords at 2.30pm for the opening of debates or whatever it is and then p*ss off home, that's it done!

Seeing his admission on the show, fans were left less than impressed online. They took to X and shared:

nigel 'joking' abt how house of lords members get paid £300 to show up and then "piss off home" AND have subsidised lunches ... this country is just a fucking joke
Sorry if you’re in the House of Lords they get £300 per day for turning up…..there is currently 778 lords in the house…..if they all turn up then that’s £233400 per day!!!!!! WTAF
£300 per day = 109k per year, disgusting 😡 Someone start a petition to abolish House of Lords.
The more Nigel talks about the House of Lords, the more I'm getting pissed off that taxpayers are subsiding these unelected people
