As Donald Trump was arrested for the second time in three months, people were expecting the Trump clan to make more of an appearance as a show of support. Indeed, as The Independent points out, while Trump supporters have rallied at the court his wife, Melania Trumpwas, once again, a no-show.

An unidentified source allegedly told People that the former First Lady is ‘upset and unhappy’ about the legal procedures her husband is currently going through.
The anonymous source continues their statement by saying that Melania ‘prefers to stay away from making many comments as some of the recent evidence, especially in the Mar-a-Lago documents case, is quite damaging.’

Melania Trump has always been in the sidelines
While these rumours could be true, other sources cited this time, have provided a different angle to Melania’s silence and distance.
An opinion piece in The Guardian does point out that Melania Trump is known for her ‘disappearing acts’ which start ‘speculation about whether she has finally left her husband.’ Indeed, even as First Lady she was never as public as her predecessor Michelle Obama.
The Guardian writer also highlights the fact that another and even more significant person has been missing as Trump’s court dates: his daughter Ivanka Trump. It has been noticeable that while her father ‘was president, Ivanka was his right hand woman’ but now she is keeping her distance.

Moreover, and interestingly, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former aide of Melania Trump says
Melania lives in an ivory tower of denial
Winston Wolkoff continues:
I never expected to see her there. Her silence is deliberate, it is her weapon of choice and protective armour.
Maybe Melania’s distance doesn’t signify anything bad for the couple. But instead it might move the spotlight just slightly. After all, we are writing an article about Melania’s absence while Donald Trump may have mishandled a lot of classified documents.

What Would Melania Trump do if Donald Trump goes to jail?
This is not a small trial for Donald Trump. The Independent underlines that ‘each charge carries a maximum sentence ranging from five years to 20 years.’
However, while her husband risks spending decades in prison Melania is set to be good on her own.
Even Donald Trump himself knows it and said:
She’s a very beautiful person. As you know, she made a tremendous amount of money when was very successful as a model.
Moreover, sources have said that Melania Trump’s net worth ranges between $55M and $70M.
This comes from her modeling but it also comes from her many business ventures over the years.
In 2010 she launched a jewelry line as well as a caviar skin care. Even though these companies no longer release new articles they are still active and they reportedly made Melania between $15,000 and $50,000 in royalties.
But Melania is also someone that keeps an ear out for new trends. For example, in 2021 got involved with NFTs. She created 'Melania's vision' which her office describes as 'a breathtaking watercolor, (that) embodies Mrs Trump’s cobalt blue eyes, providing the collector with an amulet to inspire.' Each piece sold for $150.
In a statement made by her office, Melania shares that profits made through 'Melania's vision' will 'support my ongoing commitment to children through my Be Best initiative.'
Finally, Melania and Donald Trump have a son together, Barron Trump who is 17 so Melania might also be busy being a mother.
