According to a well-connected source to producers of the show, the iconic villa where Love Island was filmed in 2015 and 2016 has just been sold. This is how much the villa cost the mystery buyer...
How much was the villa worth?
The villa in question had been on the market for well over a year at an asking price of £3.1 million before it was picked up by an unnamed person. The well-placed insider said:
It was taken off the market about two weeks ago. It sold for near its asking price.
According to expert real estate agents, the villa stood out from the rest of the properties in the region for its one-of-a-kind beach-style outdoor pools. As if that weren't enough, from the viewpoint of the villa, you could see as far as the uninhabited island of Cabrera off Majorca’s southern coast.
Boasting a spectacular five bedrooms and five bathrooms, the property also came equipped with a stunning whirlpool, as well as underfloor heating and sunny balcony terrace.
Bosses on the hunt for yet a new villa
Although the most recent villa was even more spectacular-looking than the one it replaced, Love Islandbosses have confirmed that they are on the hunt for a new property. One insider closely-related to the show said:
ITV bosses think this is the right moment to refresh this element of the show, just as they did in series three back in 2017. Bosses are conscious of the fact that this is also an opportunity to consider all the new elements they could introduce to enhance the show even further.
For fans of Love Island this is huge news and they'll be eager to see what the new villa looks like and how much it could change the show.
