Great British Bake Off has finally announced who will be the next person to join the ranks of Paul Hollywood, Noel Fielding and Prue Leith in judging England's best desserts.
Matt Lucas announced that he will be joining the panel of judges intheGreat British Bake Offthis spring. he will be replacing Sandi Toksvig, who had announced in January that she would be stepping away from the show. Lucas is excited to take on the role and has released a statement to Sky News:
"I'm chuffed to bits to be joining the most delicious show on television, I can't wait to break bread with Noel, Prue and Paul and meet the brilliant bakers"
Lucas has even started preparing for his new role already by purchasing some work-appropriate clothing:
"And bearing in mind my love of cake, I've already ordered some much larger trousers in anticipation. See you in the tent!"
Noel Fielding, in particular, is keen to start working with the comedic actor, stating that they could be the next Chas and Morph:
"I love Matt. I love his warmth and his comedy and his big joyful smile. I think if we play our cards right we could become the next Chas and Morph."
No doubt the combination of the two hilarious personalities will add some extra pep to an already iconic show, and we are all excited to see just how the two will bounce off each other in the tent. Prue has also exclaimed the same sentiment stating that the combination of the two will no doubt be a hoot:
"The combination of Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding! Will we stop laughing and get any filming done?"
