This spectacular photo of a pregnant woman giving birth shows her bones sticking out of her back. The picture, which was taken at Tangi Birth Services, a pregnancy care center in Louisiana, has inspired thousands of women online.
Pregnancy is tough. Contractions interfering with your sleep. Nausea and vomiting waking you up in the middle of the night. The list goes on... But when it's time to give birth and finally meet your baby, all of those troubles fade away.
A woman gave birth at a pregnancy care center in Ponchatoula, in the state of Louisiana. Health care staff recorded a video that they later shared on Instagram and Facebook to raise awareness about more uncommon types of deliveries.
Internet users were amazed by the patient, who gave birth to her son standing, with her back facing the doctors and her upper body resting on some kind of bed. You can see all the bones in her back moving, but what really shocked viewers was a bulge that formed in her lower back.
The pregnancy care center explained that this was the woman's second time giving birth and that it was a spontaneous vaginal delivery. The mother received chiropractic care both before and after giving birth.
The part of her back that was sticking out is a kite-shaped area called the Rhombus Michaelis. It includes the three lower lumbar vertebrae, the sacrum and a long ligament that reaches down from the base of the skull to the sacrum. Check out the video to see what her back looked like while she was giving birth. You don't want to miss this!
