Why Is September the Worst Month for Infidelity?

When it comes to love, the fear of deception can become an obsession for some people. According to research done by an extra-marital site, September is even the month when cheating is most common and here's why.

The year 2020 has not been an easy one for a lot of couples. As everyone seems to have finally settled in come to terms with the reality of this new global situation, it would seem there's something else couples will be working about. The month of September.

This month is supposed to be the worst for couples as it is the most likely month for infidelity. At least that's what the study conducted by the extra-marital dating site Gleeden reveals. September is the month when the platform sees the most registrations.

The Gleeden survey showed that between 31 August and 6 September 2020 the site noted an unprecedented leap in the number of newcomers: +472 % of new registrants!

This year 2020 has been an exceptional year for the site, which has been up andnrunning for 10 years now. On Tuesday 1 September, Gleeden recorded its record rate of registrations in one day.

How can this phenomenon be explained?

Established couples are returning from holidays and if they're lucky, they're still in love. However, if they're coming back with a little frustration, September appears to be the month of "liberation", i.e. leaving their partners or even finding their lovers. In fact, 64% of those registered at Gleeden say they have found their new lover during the first week of the new school year.

2020: A year of catastrophe

This can also be explained by the particularly anxiety-provoking period in which the whole world has been plunged since the coronavirus health crisis. It should also be added that the month of September is also sadly famous for being the month in which the most divorces are recorded.
