Spice it up

Adding spices to yoghurt is the best way to literally spice things up. In fact, spiced yoghurt is standard practice in many cultures in South Asia. Spices complement yoghurt very well so add in a pinch of your favourite spice like cinnamon or cumin, or even turmeric for a healthy kick.

This spiced yoghurt can be eaten as it is or even be used to top your sandwiches or as an addition to a salad.

Add crunch

Adding an element of crunch to your yoghurt keeps things from getting boring. This crunch can come in the form of fruits such as apples or even cereal like homemade granola or corn-flakes. You can also add in nuts or dried berries for an element of crunchy deliciousness.

Just remember to stay away from over-processed crunchy additions since that would defeat the purpose of having a healthy bowl of food. However, if you want to have a dessert, crumbling a homemade cookie into your yoghurt could be a healthy cheat dessert, instead of using whipped cream etc.

Use yoghurt as topping

You can add yoghurt as a super healthy topping or side-dish with your roasted root vegetables such as sweet potatoes, butter squash or roasted pumpkin. The flavour of yoghurt pares well with the earthy textures of these hearty roast veggies.

Just add a healthy dollop of yoghurt over your roasted veggies, season with salt and pepper and some olive oil, and you have a fantastic balanced meal on your hands.
