Earlier, in another fast-food- related case, many customers in the US were deemed eligible to receive payment from Panda Express.

As reported by The Sun, here's what happened in case of McDonald's in the UK.

Payment glitches in McDonald's

As per the report, what went down in a McDonald's restaurant in the UK, might make you reconsider paying for meals via card, or giving restaurants any card details at all.

Many McDonald's customers were charged money by McDonald's for food and drinks purchased at the restaurant, months after their visit to the fast-food spot.

One customer, Alexis Johnson who made their purchase at the McDonald's in Dagenham, East London claims she was charged £34.54 last week out of the blue. Upon checking it was for an order she had made back in June!

The customer says, she thought it was a bank-fraud at first. She is not the only one. Her husband Ricky, 42, has also been charged £50 in multiple transactions for purchases made in May and June.

McDonald's explains what went wrong

Alexis recounts her experience saying,

At first we thought we might've been the victims of fraud. My bank account was in negative balance and I was shocked.
I thought I'd been charged at the time, as other people would have, so it's really poor from McDonald's. Being charged months later can have a bad impact on people who are hard-up.

Another customer, Nicole Jackson, has been charged a whooping £155! She fumes,

I've had £155 taken. It's absolutely disgusting.

McDonald's says that the reason for these mysterious back charges, is a faulty card reader. Their statement reads,

Unfortunately there was a fault with one of the card readers in our Dagenham restaurant between 26th April and 19th June that meant customers using that card reader were not charged at the time.
We have been processing these payments over the last two weeks, and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of this payments failure.
