The new series has many changes like having active social media accounts and show bosses axing the AfterSun spin-off - and Maya Jama could be the reason behind it.

Love Island All Stars axes Aftersun spin-off

After rumours circulated online that the sister show will not return with the new series, The Sun confirmed the news. The South Africa villa journey will not be accompanied by the Aftersun spin-off as show bosses want the new series to be and feel different from the original one.

A source shared:

Bosses want the new series to feel and look really different from the regular series.

Wondering how the evicted Islanders will be interviewed then? Bosses have got a fix. The source added:

This time around, when islanders leave the villa, they will be greeted by host Maya Jama upon their exit who will grill them for all the goss fresh from the fire pit.
It means Maya will have even more screen time which will thrill viewers, who can't get enough of her, and also that there will be loads more reaction from the All-Stars the second they get dumped.

Maya Jama moves into South Africa luxury pad for the series

This comes as Maya Jama decided to skip the hotel stay and rent out a house in South Africa so that she’s in Cape Town for the entire series. The commute from South Africa to London is a 12-hour flight that Maya didn’t want to take.

Previous host Laura Whitmore also cited the commute as one of the major reasons she decided to quit the show. As such, Maya - who recently got back with Stormzy - has decided to rent a lavish pad where her friends, family and beau can come visit her in off time.

A source told The Sun that axing Aftersun was also based on Maya’s decision to completely move to South Africa for the series - ‘the huge shake-up to the format, made possible by Maya’s plan to set up camp permanently during the run.’They added:

Maya will make Cape Town her base throughout All Stars and has a gorgeous property ready and waiting.
She has a few jobs to fly back for but will be in South Africa most of the time thanks to the plan.
Flying the 12 hours to Cape Town from London is gruelling and so it was hard for Maya to appear as much as she wanted to on her first series in January 2023.
Setting up a home away from home means she’ll be chilled out, well-rested and on hand to film loads of brilliant pieces for the series.
Everyone is really excited about the plan.
