As many know, before marrying Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan Markle was an actress, best known for her role in Suits but she also ran a lifestyle blog. Indeed, Meghan ran a personal blog called The Tig, named after her favourite wine at the time Tignanello.

On her blog, she wrote about everything from fashion to her favourite dishes and occasionally collaborated with Grazia to write guide-style articles for the high-end magazine readers. Meghan even wrote an article about Princess Kate’s wedding in 2011.

However, Markle shut down her blog in 2017 after her relationship with Prince Harry went public. Now, four years after the couple quit Royal, Meghan has launched a new lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard.

Meghan Markle’s way of running a business is ‘curious’

On March 14, Meghan Markle launched her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. However, as per Express, the Duchess of Sussex is currently in the process of hiring a CEO for the brand.

According to royal commentator Richard Eden, the fact that Meghan launched her brand before hiring a CEO is ‘curious in many ways’. Indeed, Richard explains that it is unusual that Meghan launched her brand before hiring a CEO.

Typically, the ‘mastermind’ behind the brand is chosen before the launch. For Richard, this may mean that the CEO may ‘not be the boss’ and will instead be ‘boss number two’.

As per Express, he said:

This is quite curious in many ways. [...] She's currently interviewing candidates to be the mastermind of her business.
This is quite odd because wouldn't you usually appoint your mastermind, appoint the boss of your firm, decide your strategy, and then launch it?

What will Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand sell?

So far, there have been no official announcements concerning the products Meghan Markle’s brand will be selling. On the brand’s Instagram account, there are currently 9 photos that show the brand logo.

Moreover, as reported by The Independent, the brand’s website is also very vague and only has the company logo with a prompt for those who want to sign up for the waiting list to get further information.

Despite the lack of information, it is believed that Meghan’s new brand will be similar to The Tig but with more ‘sophistication’. According to Page Six, who obtained a trademark application, revealed that American Riviera Orchard will sell a ‘broad variety of homewares and goods’.

The document reportedly shows that Meghan’s brand will sell household goods, stationery, cookware, gardening implements, beverages, foods and condiments. The document states the brand will also sell, as per The Independent:

Fragrance sachets; lavender sachets; non-medicated skin care preparations; bath and shower gels and salts…non-medicated hair preparations; bath soap; bar soap; non-medicated hand soaps; body creams; bath oil; body lotions; cosmetics [and] body oil.

It is also believed that the lifestyle brand will also provide pet products such as pet shampoo and conditioner. Finally, American Riviera Orchard will offer downloadable cookbooks and recipe books as well as printed copies from Meghan Markle.
