“So proud, ground looks amazing” as Beckham family shines for $750M stadium opening

David Beckham just scored big off the pitch, surrounded by his loved ones as he opened Inter Miami’s brand new $750 million Nu Stadium. With emotions running high, one notable absence cast a shadow over the celebration.

The big moment finally arrived for David Beckham and his close-knit tribe in Miami — the launch of the hotly-anticipated Nu Stadium, home to Inter Miami CF. While the night sparkled with superstar guest appearances, family fashion and a pitch-perfect show, all eyes were watching more than just football unfold. But while pride was everywhere, so were whispers of a family rift not hidden by the stadium lights.

Celebration in Miami: The Beckhams step out in style

The air buzzed with excitement as David Beckham unveiled Inter Miami's new $750 million stadium in a ceremony that drew the entire Beckham clan — almost. Victoria Beckham turned heads with her flawless white ensemble, chestnut hair styled in loose waves, and bright but understated makeup. Their youngest, Harper, was also on hand, with Romeo and Cruz flanking their dad, each accompanied by their partners, Kim Turnbull and Jackie Apostel. David himself opted for a tailored navy suit, crisp white shirt, and a classic striped tie, sleeves rolled just enough to show off his iconic tattoos.

“So exciting to see our players and fans together” — A proud family moment turned bittersweet

Jubilant, David captured the moment for fans by posting snapshots on the pristine green pitch ahead of the match with Austin FC. He wrote:

“So exciting to see our players and fans together in @miafreedompark for the first time. The open training session was great… bring on Saturday now. @intermiamicf.”

Reacting to his father’s post, Romeo fired off two heart emojis, while David’s mother Sandra declared her feelings simply:

“So proud, ground looks amazing.”

Elsewhere, Victoria caught the spirit of the event on her social feed with a heartfelt:

“I couldn't be prouder... I love you @davidbeckham you inspire us all every day.”

The opening ceremony wasn’t just a family affair—it doubled as a starry spectacle, with close friend Marc Anthony serenading attendees by performing the US national anthem. Yet, amid the cheers, there was a notable empty seat: Brooklyn Beckham, their eldest, skipped the evening from 3,000 miles away in Los Angeles. His absence fuelled speculation about ongoing family tensions.

Family rift overshadows milestone: Brooklyn’s side of the story

Brooklyn’s no-show hasn’t gone unnoticed. In recent months, he grew distant from the family, which he detailed in a revealing statement this January. Brooklyn accused family members of interfering in his marriage to Nicola Peltz-Beckham and pointed to an incident at his wedding. He claimed Victoria behaved “inappropriately” on the dance floor, leaving his wife Nicola in tears. DJ Fat Tony, who attended the wedding and later spoke on This Morning, shed some light:

“Marc then asks the most beautiful woman in the room to come to the stage, and it's Victoria. Of course, at that point, Brooklyn is devastated. Nicola leaves the room, crying her eyes out.”

But Marc Anthony, godfather to Cruz and central to the wedding episode, refused to stoke the drama when prodded by The Hollywood Reporter:

“I have nothing to say about what's happening with the family. They're a wonderful, wonderful family. I've known them since before the kids were born. I'm godfather to Cruz. I'm really close to the family. But I have nothing to say about what happened there.”

He added:

“It's extremely unfortunate how it's playing out — but [how it's playing out] is hardly the truth.”
