A lot of homemade skincareeven includeslemon, an astringent, acidic fruit that can cause irritation, burn and sun sensitivity. That's why it's best to use products that have been formulated for the skin.

Coffee grounds and sugar are another big no-no. These ingredients are coarse and can cause micro-tears in the skin as well as drying out your face and causing irritation and inflammation.

However, there are two household ingredients that are safe to use: Oats and honey.

These two ingredients are not only soothing to sensitive skin but also hydrating. There's also a super simple mask you can make from these ingredients.

The oat and honey mask:

All you need to make this mask is oats, honey and water.

- 1/2 Cup of oatmeal

- 1 Cup of water

- 1 Tablespoon of honey

Now it's time to whip out your saucepan. To make this very simple mask you just need to put all of the ingredients in a pot and cook it on low heat, just like making porridge!

After the porridge mask is set let it cool before applying it to your clean face and neck. Remember to always move in upwards strokes.

You can keep this mask on for 10-15 minutes or if you decide against it you could always eat it for breakfast!
