As days are becoming warmer and we finally get to ditch all of our puffy winter clothes (not to mention no longer being confined!) social interactions are inevitable. So what better way to get you feeling good in your skin than a healthy dose of self care in the form of skin brushing!

The reason for its quickly garnered popularity is because of its multi-purpose usage. Dr. Marilyn Glenville, author of The Natural Health Bible for Women, explains how you can even use it to regulate you immune system (but more on that later).

Firmer, softer and smoother skin!

For starters, we would like to stress that your body, in whatever shape and form it takes, or the space it uses up, or the way it appears to you, should matter to no one else but yourself. But if you do feel insecure about cellulite, body brushing can help with that. Dr. Gleville explains:

If you have poor blood flow to your connective tissues, they will swell and stretch apart, allowing fat to bulge through, giving you cellulite.

Essentially, dry body brushing helps in breaking these fatty deposits up over time leaving your skin looking and feeling smoother and firmer. It is also known for helping with lymphatic drainage, which can ultimately boost your immune system.

As most of our lymph vessels lie just below the skin, dry brushing, routinely, helps to stimulate the lymphatic system which in turn is conducive to detoxifying and strengthening your immunity system.

Skin brushing boosts energy levels and gets rid of ingrown hairs

And as if that weren't enough, this same brushing motion onto the skin has also been proven to boost your energy levels by allowing for better circulation to be had. Say goodbye to your morning coffee!

Finally, dry brushing is much gentler on the skin than harsh and abrasive body scrubs. It not only rids your skin of dead cells (leaving it feeling and looking fresher and softer) but it is also a very effective tool against ingrown hairs!
