It is believed that it was first brought over to the Americas by English settlers during the time of colonization. Thriving in both compact and disturbed soil it has found a home in almost every country on the planet.

When it comes to weeding, most of us will disregard this plant and label it as invasive and unnecessary, when in fact, it can prove very beneficial for our own wellbeing.

DIY skin cream for cuts, burns, irritation and more

Another benefit of this amazing plant is allantoin. A chemical compound that actually helps protect and heal the skin. For a DIY skincare cream, you can dry the leaves of the broadleaf plantain plant and add them to a glass jar with coconut oil. Place the jar in a pot of boiling water and let it simmer sealed so the leaves can diffuse in the oil. Do this for about 2 hours and then strain the leaves from the oil. Add some beeswax to the mix and repeat the process. When the wax has infused with the oil sufficiently remove and let cool.
