This Iconic Gavin And Stacey Star Has Been Snubbed From The Christmas Special

Fans were delighted to hear that beloved sitcom Gavin and Stacey would be returning for a one-off Christmas special this year. But it looks like one key cast member will be absent from the new episode - and she's not exactly happy about it...

With the news that Gavin and Stacey is coming back to our screens, viewers have been getting more and more excited to see the whole gang back together. Stars Joanna Page (Stacey), Mathew Horne (Gavin), Larry Lamb (Mick), Alison Steadman (Pam), Melanie Walters (Gwen) and Rob Brydon (Uncle Bryn) have all been confirmed to return alongside show writers and stars James Corden and Ruth Jones (Smithy and Nessa).

However, it looks like Sheridan Smith, who played Smithy's sister Rudi in the show, will not be returning to the show. The 37-year-old star appeared in 7 of the 20 episodes in the original three series - and her and Smithy's rap to Kanye West and Estelle's American Boy was one of the show's most memorable moments.

Despite the fact that they played warring siblings on the show, Sheridan ended up dating James Corden for two years during their time on the sitcom. The relationship eventually ended in 2009 and James met now-wife Julia Carey soon afterwards that same year - describing their meeting as 'love at first sight'.

James and Julia now live in Los Angeles with their three children Max, Carey and Charlotte as James hit the big-time Stateside with his job hosting The Late Late Show.

Meanwhile, Sheridan got engaged to former insurance broker Jamie Horn last May, after he proposed with a £10,000 ring just three months after they met each other on Tinder.
