Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor are officially a couple

After months of denying that they were anything more than just really, really good friends, Love Island 2019 stars Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor have gone public with their relationship, confessing their love for each other with matching Instagram posts last night.

Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor are officially in a relationship! They confirmed the news themselves. Whilst there have been rumours about the 2019 Love Islanders being romantically involved for months, the pair have always strongly denied that they were anything more than mates–until now.

Chris and Maura both took to Instagram last night to share a loved-up photo of themselves gazing into each other’s eyes. The snap was taken in front of a stunning night-time view in Dubai. Chris captioned his ‘Turns out I fell in love with my best mate’ whilst Maura wrote simply ‘He’s mine’ with a heart emoji.

How long have Chris and Maura been together?

Whilst Chris and Maura first met in the Love Island villa back in the summer of 2019, they didn’t have a romantic relationship at that point. Although Maura was one of the first girls Chris chose to take on a date, and they were briefly in a friendship couple, Maura coupled up with Curtis Pritchard instead and was dating him until their split in March this year.

Meanwhile, the rumours about Chris and Maura’s relationship started all the way back in May when Maura posted a picture of them together to Instagram. They started spending more and more time together and Chris was spotted leaving Maura’s flat after seemingly spending the night there in June–although the pair insisted they had a ‘brother/sister’-type relationship.

How did the other Islanders react to Chris and Maura’s relationship?

Chris and Maura’s Insta posts were met with a flurry of supportive comments from many of their fellow former Islanders. Chris’ ex Francesca Allen proved that there are no hard feelings as she commented with a series of praise hand and heart emojis. Meanwhile Maura’s bestie Molly-Mae Hague commented ‘Everything and more’ accompanied by five crying emojis.
