Love Island’s Ollie Williams says hunting is better than stockpiling

Ollie Williams, who fleetingly starred on this year’s Love Island before making a swift exit just a couple of days in, has shared a Youtube video of himself hunting as he insisted that it’s ‘better’ than stockpiling. The 23-year-old previously caused uproar after photos of himself with slain wild animals were shared online.

Ollie, Ollie, Ollie… it seems a lifetime ago that the blond aristocrat stepped into the villa as one of this year’s original cast members. You’d be forgiven for having forgotten about him, since he only lasted a couple of days as an Islander – supposedly walking out because he’d realised he was still in love with his ex.

Whilst Ollie has since reunited with his ex-girlfriend Laura, and is still seeing her now, many fans were sceptical as to whether that was the real reason for Ollie leaving the villa. After his entrance, photos of Ollie with dead wild animals emerged online and fans called for him to be axed from the show.

After his exit, Ollie insisted that he ‘did not shoot any of the animals shown in the photographs’ and that he had never ‘shot as a trophy hunter’. He insisted that the photos in question actually came from a conservation trip and that he feels ‘very passionately’ about sustainable conservation.

However, Ollie has now angered some fans again by sharing a video of a recent hunting trip. Ollie posted the video to his Youtube channel, saying: ‘Hey guys. Second YouTube video will go up on my channel tonight and it is a video of me hunting, to give you a heads up. It's basically a day with the rifles, zeroing etc. on the range, and then going out in the evening and bagging a deer for the larder.’

Referring to the coronavirus crisis, he continued: ‘So you see all this stockpiling going on and instead of me going down to the supermarket I decided it was better for me to go out and harvest the meat for myself so that's what I've done.’ Whilst some fans were outraged by the decision to post a hunting video, others defended him for posting what he wants.
