Mum churns her breast milk into butter for her boyfriend to try

This is one TikTok food trend you might not want to recreate at home.

No one really thinks of being inventive with breast milk as it serves only one purpose, giving nutrition to babies. But this mom decided to do something more with her excess supply and turned her boob milk into butter. Yes, you read that right—butter.

Udder butter

Laura Hall posted a video of her homemade boob butter on TikTok, and it blew up with over 1.6 million views. Given the stellar response she got, she decided to show her curious viewers how she went about making her own so-called ‘udder butter.’

She let her milk sit until the fat rose to the top of the bottle. She then transferred the fatty cream-like substance into a separate bowl and whisked it until it became yellow, and had a thick clumpy consistency. She squeezed all the excess liquid out and once she did that the cream looked exactly like butter.

In another video she decided to do a taste test with her boyfriend and she spread the butter on two small pieces of toast. After taking a bite Hall instantly realised she would never eat anything like this again. She said:

To me it tastes like, you know when you burp and it kind of tastes like throw up.

Her boyfriend on the other hand wasn’t that disgusted and rated it a five of ten. When asked if he’d eat the whole piece, he replied:

If I was hungry.

Can adults consume breast milk?

Breast milk is one of the healthiest sources of food that can be given to babies as it is rich in nutrients, proteins, and fat. It also contains antibodies that can fight away harmful infections. But whether or not they’re suitable for adults to consume has been a controversial topic.

Back in 2020, there was a growing trend in the body building community in which men started to drink breast milk to strengthen their muscles naturally, but experts were not convinced. Toronto-based nutritionist, Meghan Telpner told Global News:

Breast milk is designed for babies. It’s packed with everything they need to grow in a form that allows their delicate digestive systems and permeable intestines to absorb those nutrients.
Breast milk is not designed for grown men to drink.
